What I have done for Lebanon

Leila Barakat has been advisor to many Ministers and head of Public Institutions. She wrote books related against corruption in Lebanon and advocating for Governance and adequate reforms (among which The Adventurers of Public Management, Thinking about the State, The General Directorate of Culture: a case study about corruption in the Lebanese Administration and means for fighting it, Management of the ministerial Portfolio : manual for Ministers, and About Presidents and the Exercise of presidential Functions : analytical encyclopaedia).  

She has been appointed as General Coordinator for Beirut World Book Capital, a year during which 567 projects and 1200 activities have been implemented under her supervision. She wrote a 1000 p. Encyclopedia titled “Beirut World Book Capital, an outstanding Cultural year: the largest mobilization of civil society cultural and educational institutions in the history of modern Lebanon”.

When she was advisor to Minister for Administrative Reform, she collected indexed 4000 valuable projects and studies of the public sector scattered by Civil war and issued the Catalogue of the Studies and Projects related to the Public Sector.

I- Leila Barakat has been Team Leader for seven European-Union funded projects:

  1. Team Leader of the European-Union funded project “Communicating Results of the EU Support to the Private Sector Development” in Jordan (2018-ongoing).
  2. Team Leader of the European-Union funded project “National Aid Fund Technical Assistance on Communication Strategy” in Jordan (2017-2018).
  3. Team Leader of the European-Union funded project “Development and Implementation of a National Strategy and Action Plan for Improving the Image and Social Perception of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Egypt” (2016-2017).
  4. Team Leader of the European-Union funded project “Promoting Local Economic Development in Jordan: formulation and implementation of a communication strategy - PLEDJ” (2014-2017).
  5. Team Leader of the European-Union funded project “Visibility Campaign on Water and Sanitation projects and Strategy implemented by the EU Delegation in its Support to Lebanon” (2015-2016).

In total, Leila Barakat has been mobilised as International Expert in 30 European-Union funded projects located in Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Turkey and Ghana.   

II- Leila Barakat was the founder and director of Le Safir francophone, from 2014 to 2017, a monthly Press Supplement distributed with As-Safir newspaper.

III- In 2008, Leila Barakat has been appointed General Coordinator of Beirut World Book Capital and led a team of thirty persons. During the year of Beirut World Book Capital, 567 projects and 1200 activities have been implemented.

IV- Leila Barakat has been appointed many times advisor to Ministers and Presidents of Public Institutions in Lebanon:
