Community/Lebanon Impact
Lamia Shehadeh has dedicated her career to educating and raising awareness about Lebanon’s history and the role of women in society. She taught her students to learn about Lebanon’s history and to take pride in it, and published numerous articles in newspapers to inform the public of the country’s history and achievements. She conducted in-depth research and published a book on women and war in Lebanon, along with several articles and book chapters exploring the conditions of Lebanese women.
Lamia served as a member of the committee that prepared for the Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1994, and later co-founded the Non-Governmental Committee Pursuant to Women’s Issues (1996–1998) following the conference. She has delivered numerous lectures across Lebanon, raising awareness about the status and rights of women throughout the country.
