Community/Lebanon Impact

In alignment with her mission to raise awareness and implement preventive and early detection measures for catastrophic blood disorders, she conducted a national newborn screening campaign in 2012 to identify inherited hemoglobin disorders. She determined the exact prevalence of these disorders and enrolled affected children in a comprehensive, free treatment program. Following the death of her son in a car accident in 2006, she established the Georges Nassim Khoriaty Foundation, which offers free medical care to 1,000 children with cancer and blood disorders through its comprehensive childhood cancer and blood diseases program, and to 10,000 people through its dispensary. In 2016, aiming to reduce deaths and disabilities from road accidents, she founded the GNK Traffic Academy, which educates Lebanese students on safe driving ethics and rules through an ISO-accredited simulator-based curriculum. Since returning from Harvard University in the 1980s, she has provided expert medical care and health awareness to generations of Lebanese children. Above all, she has mentored junior Lebanese physicians, medical students, residents, and fellows, guiding them to become not only expert doctors but also compassionate healers.
