Community/Lebanon Impact

Dr. Nadia Badran, is elected as a President of the Social Worker’s Syndicate in Lebanon and is acting as Executive Director at the NGO “Society for Inclusion and Development in Communities and Care for All -SIDC”. She got her Master degree in Counseling and her passion for ethics in social work decision making, encouraged her to do a research in this field and she got her Ph.D. in Social Sciences. Dr. Nadia Badran, has more than 30 years of experience in the field of health, social promotion, education and counselling. She has been working with children, adolescents, youth and adults. She was involved in the implementation of hundreds of workshops in Lebanon and in the MENA region related to health, mental health, HIV/STIs, youth vulnerability, parenthood and inclusivity at workplace among other topics. She has been working on the development and implementation of programs addressing specific topics including Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), mental health, gender and sexual identity, substance use, HIV/AIDS, stigma and discrimination. Dr. Nadia Badran, has an extensive experience working with persons with diverse SOGIESC, vulnerable women, people living with HIV, people using drugs, female and male sex workers, or victims of sexual assault. She is actively engaged in defending the human rights of vulnerable groups and advocating for policy change to protect their rights. Dr. Nadia Badran, is a trainer and lecturer at regional and international levels with UN agencies and NGOs, a WHO regional expert team member, and part of advisory committees and consultancy groups on child protection, disabilities, and early childhood development. She is a founding member of community organizations and networks (nationally and regionally), she has developed and or adapted 50+ training modules and led 100+ workshops regionally and nationally.

  • 2024: PhD in Social Sciences from Lebanese University.
  • 2009: Masters in Counseling from St. Joseph University-Beirut, Lebanon.
  • 1990 - 1993: Bachelor degree in Social Work from Lebanese University - Faculty of Health Sciences Lebanon.

Previous Professions: 
  • 2010 - Present: Executive Director of SIDC.
  • 2006 - Present: Freelance Consultant, UN and International Agencies, MENA region.
  • Co-founder of Vivre Positif (NGO for people living with and affected by HIV in Lebanon).
  • Co-founder & Representative of the Lebanese Aids Network Association in Lebanon (LANA) and Secretariat of the Regional Arab Network Agaisnt aids –RANAA).
  • 2012- 2017: Director of the Knowledge Hub, SIDC- Regional Hub for Harm Reduction that covers 12 countries in the MENA region.
  • Teacher in social work ethics and bioethics at the lebanese university- public health section, Social work Department and at the School of Social Work at St Joseph University- Beirut- Lebanon.
