Dr. Lama Moussawi is a tenured Professor of Management Science at the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business at the American University of Beirut (AUB), where she currently serves as the Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development. She previously served as the Interim Director of the Master of Science in Business Analytics Program and as the Director and co-founder of the Center for Inclusive Business and Leadership for Women. In these roles, she led multi-million U.S. federal grants as the Principal Investigator, aimed at strengthening women’s economic contributions to the formal economies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Her research focuses on developing models in Management Science across various business areas, including inventory management, sustainable supply chains, and revenue management. Additionally, her work leverages data analytics to promote gender inclusion and diversity in the MENA region. Dr. Moussawi is deeply committed to advancing gender diversity and equity, empowering women at AUB and across the Middle East, and promoting the advancement of women in the sciences. She serves as the Chair of the WiDS@AUB annual conference, which seeks to increase female representation in data science in the MENA region by showcasing women leaders in the field. She is also the founding chair of the Committee on the Lives and Careers of Women at AUB. She serves on the advisory boards of WiDS Worldwide, a non-profit organization promoting women’s representation in data science and the application of data science to address the world’s most pressing challenges, as well as the International Foundation for Women’s Empowerment. Dr. Moussawi has been invited to speak at prestigious international forums, including the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and the Wilson Center’s Middle East Program.
