Community/Lebanon Impact
Amani is an award- winning changemaker and peacekeeper, political and human rights activist, investigative journalist, legal researcher, with over a decade of experience in gender advocacy, environmental justice, and public law. She holds a law degree from the Lebanese University, where she graduated with distinction, ranking first in Lebanon. Currently, she is pursuing her postgraduate studies in public law, focusing on “The Role of the Administrative Judge in Protecting Public Property.” Amani is a co-founder of the National Campaign to Save the Bisri Valley and was the first to oppose the construction of the Bisri Dam, a movement that became a landmark case for environmental activism in Lebanon. She has also been actively engaged in women’s rights and peace advocacy as a member of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF – Geneva and Lebanon). She began collaborating with Legal Agenda during the 2022 parliamentary elections before officially joining its journalism department, where she continues to produce in-depth investigations on environmental justice and legal issues. Her investigative journalism focuses on public property rights, environmental policies, and human rights, with published work on maritime properties, railway lines, dams, and the impact of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon. Beyond journalism, Amani has played a key role in community mobilization and policy advocacy. As a Project Manager at the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW), she worked to strengthen women's political participation. She also led EU-supported programs to establish The first Neighborhood Committees in Lebanon and Arab region, a foundational model for participatory democracy. In addition, she has been actively supporting cancer patients for over a decade, through her work with the Barbara Nassar Association for Supporting Cancer Patients, advocating for their rights and access to care. Beyond her professional work, Amani is also a writer, artist, farmer, and beekeeper, reflecting her deep connection to nature and sustainability.
