Community/Lebanon Impact

Abla Mehio Sibai is a Professor of Epidemiology and the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the American University of Beirut (AUB). She is the co-founder of the AUB University for Seniors program and the founding Director of the Center for Studies on Ageing in Lebanon. She also serves as a Board Member of HelpAge International (UK), a member of the WHO Science Council, and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Healthy Ageing and Longevity. Sibai has extensive experience researching the health and social well-being of older people, with a particular focus on cardiovascular disease in the context of wars and socio-political unrest. She has led numerous surveys and studies on aging in Lebanon and across the Arab region, and has been frequently consulted by the WHO, UNFPA, and ESCWA on issues concerning older adults. She is the author of more than 200 scholarly articles published in leading journals, as well as several book chapters and scientific reports.
