Lina Ghaibeh is a comics and animation artist based in Beirut and an associate professor at the American University of Beirut. She serves as the director of the Center for Arab Comics Studies at AUB and as the coordinator of the Graphic Design program in the Department of Architecture and Design. Her academic research focuses on comics in the Arab world as part of contemporary Arab culture, with her most recent articles including Telling Graphic Stories of the Region: Arabic Comics after the Revolution and From Behind the Doors Into the Streets: Women in Comics from the Arab World. Her animated shorts and comics explore issues of identity, belonging, and human rights, with Beirut serving as a source of inspiration, and have been screened and exhibited at several international film festivals and comics salons.
