Community/Lebanon Impact

  • Dr. Said has dedicated her career to enhancing the lives of older adults, empowering women, and addressing sensitive issues in underserved communities across Lebanon. In the geriatric field, she played a leading role in developing quality standards for institutions serving older adults in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs, ESCWA, and UNFPA. She contributed to shaping policies and strategies for older persons in Lebanon and the Arab region while delivering capacity-building programs to governmental bodies and institutional staff to improve services and institutional practices.
  • In the area of gender-based violence (GBV) and women’s empowerment, she established a GBV hotline specifically designed to support rural and conservative women, breaking societal barriers and providing vital assistance to those suffering in silence. Additionally, she has worked to break taboos surrounding sexual and reproductive health (SRH) through awareness sessions and capacity-building programs, fostering open conversations and empowering women to take charge of their health.
  • As an academic, she has trained and mentored the next generation of healthcare professionals through my teaching roles at leading universities in Lebanon, with a focus on geriatric care, community health, and leadership. Her work has emphasized the importance of dignity, respect, and professionalism in caring for older adults.
  • Across all these fields, she remains committed to promoting dignity, equality, and justice while creating sustainable change for older adults, women, and marginalized communities in Lebanon and the wider region.
