التأثير في المجتمع/لبنان
Aziza Sbaity is a Lebanese-Liberian athlete whose life journey is shaped by diverse worlds. Born to a Liberian mother and Lebanese father, her multicultural heritage ignited a quest to unravel her identity. Transitioning to Lebanon at 11, she confronted the realities of racism and color-based classism. Athletics became her path to self-discovery, fueling an unwavering commitment to empowerment and advocacy.
In 2023, Aziza was recognized as one of the BBC’s 100 Most Influential and Inspirational Women in the World, an honor that highlights her dedication to breaking barriers and creating positive change. As the 100m record holder, she holds the title of "fastest woman in Lebanese history" and made history as the first black Lebanese athlete to win gold at the West Asian and Arab championships in the 200m.
Aziza leverages her platform to champion inclusivity and equality, collaborating with schools, universities, and NGOs related to sports and antiracism to inspire Lebanon's youth. She also shares her story with students to motivate and empower the next generation.
In addition to her athletic achievements, Aziza holds a degree in Business Management from the Lebanese American University and is in the final stages of completing her M.A. in Olympic Studies at the German Sports University in Cologne, Germany and an MBA at the American University of Beirut.
