Dr. Joyce Azzam is a celebrated Lebanese mountaineer, conservation architect, and motivational speaker. She holds the distinction of being the first Lebanese woman to climb Mount Everest and complete the Seven Summits challenge, reaching the highest peaks on each continent. Despite being born with hypermobility syndrome, Joyce overcame significant physical challenges to achieve her dreams, embodying resilience and determination. With a PhD in the management of landscapes and environments from La Sapienza University in Rome, she is an expert in conserving cultural heritage sites and cities.
Joyce is one of only 15 UN Women Goodwill Ambassadors globally and the only Arabic-speaking representative in this prestigious role, highlighting her commitment to advancing gender equality and empowering women. Through her academy, "MounTurtle", she helps individuals connect with nature and discover their potential, encouraging personal growth and building confidence. A passionate advocate for youth empowerment, she develops programs that address issues like bullying, self-esteem, and leadership, inspiring communities through the transformative power of mountains and storytelling.
