Community Involvement
Naila is a Lebanese Sign Language interpreter and teacher. She grew up in a family of Deaf parents where she learned to sign before she even spoke. Growing up she dove into the fields of art , theater, community work and the art of facilitation to combine them all in bridging the gap between the hearing and the Deaf world. She co-founded 'Sign Language Lab' where her aim is to empower and train hearing people to share their knowledge with the Deaf community in sign as well as offer a new perspective on sign language as a source of inspiration for arts, a creative documentation of our culture and heritage as well as an insight onto our history and other complex concepts through focusing on stories behind the signs. She has been curating events where both worlds meet as equals with games and stories to share rather than a pitty based dynamic.
