Community Involvement
In alignment with her mission to raise awareness and promote preventive and early detection measures for catastrophic blood disorders, she launched a national newborn screening campaign in 2012 to identify inherited hemoglobin disorders. Through this initiative, she determined the exact prevalence of these conditions and enrolled affected children in a comprehensive, free treatment program. Following the death of her son in a car accident in 2006, she established the Georges Nassim Khoriaty Foundation, which provides free medical care to 1,000 children with cancer and blood disorders through its comprehensive Childhood Cancer and Blood Diseases Program, and to 10,000 people through its dispensary. In 2016, seeking to reduce deaths and disabilities caused by road accidents, she founded the GNK Traffic Academy, which educates Lebanese students on safe driving ethics and rules through an ISO-accredited, simulator-based curriculum. Since returning from Harvard University in the 1980s, she has dedicated herself to providing expert medical care and raising health awareness among generations of Lebanese children. Above all, she has mentored junior Lebanese physicians, medical students, residents, and fellows, guiding them to become not only skilled doctors but also compassionate healers.
